Harshal Thakare is a Software Development Engineer II at Amazon with over 5 years of experience in the field of computer science. He is a passionate problem solver who believes in learning as a continuous process. When he is not working, he can be found at the gym, reading books, or playing badminton. Currently, Harshal is a part of Amazon's Last Mile delivery system where he is responsible for all the operations for package handling from the delivery station to customers. His team is responsible for building and scaling Amazon logistics and fleet management portal on last mile operations for delivery service providers. Harshal has designed and developed a data ingestion platform for Amazon last mile assets including vehicles, EV's, etc. The platform supports ingestion of multiple vehicles and its corresponding data using file, API, and event-based mechanisms. He has also developed the rule engine to identify stale and duplicate data from the source preventing the overloading of downstream services. The platform has helped speed up the expansion of Amazon Fleets across countries and brought down the development efforts for country and new third-party integration expansion from 2 months to 1.5 SDE week. In the past, Harshal has worked on several projects at Amazon, including designing and developing a live chat service for customer support, a machine translation connector for content localization, and an AuthN/AuthZ module for an employee service chatbot SPA. He has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Walchand College of Engineering and has experience working with technologies such as AWS, Javascript, Spring, Integration, Java, Docker, MySQL, NodeJS, and Typescript.
